I have to admit, this virus thing kind of made me feel emotionally off kilter for a couple of days, and that surprised me. I mean, I already work from home, so what is the big deal? But it felt like the whole world was on vacation, so I should be too. I am sure I am not the only one that had to come to grips with feeling that way, but now I have and am back into “working” mode. It helps that my family and friends have all settled into their new patterns, and things have calmed down for now.
I have made my new lists and am working on checking them off. Quilt shops are closing, so anything quilt shop related has been crossed off. I have been visiting shops each week to introduce myself and my kits, but I am not going anywhere. And shops that currently carry my kits don’t answer their phones, so… Classes I was taking have been cancelled. So I am cutting and packaging kits and working on my new quilt show booth design. I bought some store fixtures for my booth that I am reconfiguring to fit my kits. I don’t know when we will be having shows again, but I plan on being ready!
Right before we started to realize that we needed to become housebound, I had made a trip to purchase some thick acrylic for the display. (I LOVE cutting acrylic with the laser! I love the process as well as the finished product!) What great timing that was! I have been designing and cutting the needed pieces and now we are in the process of figuring out how to make it work properly.
The puzzle with this one was that it is too large for my laser. I had to cut a section at a time, and make it line up for the next section. And I needed more than one. It felt great to accomplish this feat, although it does not look all that!
I am also working on a design for a new kit, which I am very anxious to see completed! I have had this design on my mind for a very long time, and actually started the file a couple of years ago. I have been emailing screenshots to my artist sister for input and tweaking. It is not quite there yet, but her feedback is helping!
Please take care of yourself, body, soul, and spirit, during this crazy time of our lives! Creating helps!
